Larry Keenan (center) describes the CAD drawing he prepared for the proposed model of Memphis' Railroads

The MRTM rang in the New Year with its first meeting on January 10th at Central Station.

There was good news to report. All the tasks forces are up and running and the March target date for the completion of the feasibility study should be met.

MATA is set to remove all "non-railroad related" material from the tunnel as time permits.

Our incorporation papers have been returned by the state of Tennessee, so the MRTM is now a real entity. The 501-C-3 papers are being filled out by the treasurer for submission to the IRS. Once the 501-C-3 designation as a non-profit organization is approved by the IRS, fund raising efforts can begin.

A to-scale diagram of the proposed model railroad layout was presented for discussion at the meeting and Mike Fleming showed a Power Point presentation that was put together to get the message out about the Museum.

Hugh Teaford makes a point

If not the world's largest train layout, the MRTM might have the world's longest plan!
